Whether you are just out for a day of fun or a veteran angler you will find Start Me Up has a first class operation with modern, clean, fast and comfortable ready to fish yachts. The equipment of choice aboard the boat is Penn International rods and reels 20# through 130# class. A brand new 1999 release unlimited class fighting chair. Start Me Up also uses a fish finder, GPS and auto pilot. This vessel is equipped with twin control stations and an air conditioned cabin for your comfort. Yes, there is a head aboard the boat! Start Me Up provides refrigerators and freezers and 2 color TVs/VCRs for enjoyment. For your convenience Start Me Up will also provide ice, ice chest and tackle. Please note that you must provide your own beverage and food during the charter. Start Me Up does not include this. Boat Spec: Start Me Up is a 42' (L.O.A.) Bertram Sportfisher outfitted with Yanmar 350hp-diesel engines with a cruising speed of 22 knots. Top speed is 26 knots. Start Me Up is home port to Lahaina Maui and uses slip 12 in Lahaina Harbor. Start Me Up has experienced and USCG licensed Captains on all their charters. The Charters: Shares/Privates: Start Me Up offers a variety of private and share charters with a maximum capacity of 6 anglers. For the big game fish the angler should consider the 6 or 8 hour charters. This allows the boat to reach the deep shelves off the back side of Lanai or whatever other location the captain chooses. This is a good 25 miles from Lahaina Harbor and where the fishing is best. The 4 hour charters cater more toward families and anglers who would like to enjoy the experience of fishing Hawaiian waters without having to tangle with the swells of the open ocean. Please note that each day is different. The water and weather conditions both play a major role in choosing a location that will allow the angler the best chance to catch fish. Location & Times: Start Me Up meets at Lahaina Harbor slip 12. The 6 and 8 hour charters depart at 5.30am daily. The 4 hour charter departs at either 12.00pm or 2.00pm daily. The Catch: The Start Me Up targets big game fish, particularly blue marlin, striped marlin, and black marlin, ahi, kawakawa, skipjack (tuna), mahi mahi, ono (wahoo), and spear fish on the longer charters. The shorter charters that bottom fish usually reel in snapper and opah. Keep Your Catch! Start Me Up has an open policy on anglers keeping their catch. You can keep the whole fish, your entire catch or just enough for dinner. The choice is yours. The crew will filet your fish however you want it cut. This is a big reason why we use Start Me Up as a Deep Sea Fishing Charter. The State of Hawaii does not require a fishing license.
