Located on the North Shore of Maui this stable is a real working ranch and the hands all refer to themselves as Paniolos (Hawaiian for cowboys). This adventure hits the trail at 8.30am or 12.30pm and moseys up into the rain forest where in the distance towering waterfalls thunder beyond the ridge trail. Winding your way down the trail through the pastures of Mendez Ranch you can test your mount and candor to the sea. Here the breath taking views of the rugged North Shore and the salt spray on your face will content even the seasoned equestrian.
Mendez Ranch offers the Aloha Ride for those who want the thrill, but don't feel inclined to pull up a chair and sit a spell. Both rides are 2 hours in length and include refreshments. This is a very nice ride and probably the best ride on Maui for the money. This is an outstanding adventure for the entire family.

Stable Tips
Please remember that horseback riding is a very popular event and advance reservations are required year around. With all the stables catering to small groups most people who visit Maui are not here long enough to enjoy the stable of their choice.
Mendez Ranch is by far the best. With the ability to take children, this stable offers the most for a family. By being a real working ranch Mendez Ranch also affords heavier people than the other stables. And my friend this is a blessing.
Pony Express provides a very special adventure into the barren waste lands of Haleakala. If you ever wondered what it would be like to explore the surface of the moon, then you will find this journey into Haleakala compelling to say the least. This is truly a magical journey into some of the hidden secrets deep inside the "House of the Sun".
Pony Express also invites you to enjoy some of Maui's most scenic rides through the vast expanses of Historical Haleakala Ranch. All these rides are incredible.
