How does the online process work?
The online process is simple and easy to use. There are several basic steps that will lead you through the process. The steps are easy and outlined as follows:
1. Use the menu bar on the left to navigate through the web site. Each section is divided into activities that comprise the section heading.
2. Once you select an activity you would like to enjoy you must clink the "Book This Activity" link to the right in every activity description brief to schedule the event.
3. Once you enter the reservation page, fill in all the fields that apply. Please note that there is a default date set on every reservation page. You must change the default date to the date you wish to enjoy the event.
4. After you fill in all the fields that apply to the event you selected please review the field for accuracy. Then click the link "Add to Cart". This sets your reservation request and reloads the page. You should see your reservation request on the page.
5. Review your request. If there are any errors in the reservation you can remove it and start all over again by using the "Remove Reservation" link to the right.
6. After the page reloads with your reservation request you can either continue browsing the web site for more exciting Maui activities to schedule by clicking the "Continue Shopping" link at the top of the page or by accessing the different pages in the menu bar on the left.
7. To add more events, just repeat the process above. Always add to your cart to set the reservation request.
8. Once you have filled your cart with all the events you wish to enjoy, click the checkout link at the top of the page. This will take you to the information page that will help us process your request. Please note that you should fill out all the fields as they are all important in assisting us with providing you a Maui vacation you will cherish for years to come. After you have filled out all the fields on this page, click submit.
Please note that we do not charge your credit card at the time you submit your request. We have experienced too many errors in reservation requests through out the years that we have decided a long time ago to manually process your tickets.
We do not have access to the vendor's reservation systems for online availability. We must call each vendor to find out what is available and what is sold out. Some vendors are more easily to call than others. In some cases the hold time can be somewhat extreme. These cases are challenging as by the time we finally get through to the vendor, call you, and then call the vendor back availability has changed.
What you can expect from the Maui Fun Company:
The Maui Fun Company has a strict policy on what you can expect from us. These policies are set in stone. Every guest can expect the following:
1. We will create a voucher and confirm every event scheduled.
2. We will e-mail you a confirmation for every event.
3. If there are any minor issues we will adjust your request to be as close as possible to what you requested and include a note in your confirmation regarding the issue.
4. If there are any serious issues we will call you.
5. Following your e-mail confirmation you will receive a set of driving directions to every event that requires you to drive to the activity or meeting location. Please note that this service becomes impossible if you didn't provide the exact name of your accommodations or the side of the Island you are staying on.
6. When we process your tickets we will call you regardless of how short notice your request is in relation to your arrival. This is a company policy that is a standard format for every guest in North America. If you don't pick up the phone, we will leave a voice mail alerting you to the fact that we processed your tickets and e-mailed them to you. If you are from any other part of the world we will rely on your e-mail address for delivery of everything we send you. Please reply so we know you received what we sent you.
7. All requests for cancellations will be addressed immediately. When we receive your cancellation request will we process it with the vendor. You will then receive an e-mail confirming the cancellation for your records.
What the Maui Fun Company needs from you:
In order for us to provide a positive experience for you and your family there are some things we require from you. This helps us in providing the correct information to the vendor and scheduling your events if there are any issues.
1. Add our e-mail address to your address book. This is important as you may not receive our e-mail confirmations, driving directions and vouchers without doing this as spam filters and firewalls sometimes prevent our e-mails from reaching you.
2. Check your spam folder carefully before doing a mass delete. All of our e-mails to you will include the word Maui or text pertaining to your vacation activities you have scheduled with us.
3. Print everything we send you out and bring all of it with you.
4. If for some reason you haven't received anything from us within 24 hours of making your reservation request, call us because there is a problem and we need to solve it.
5. Cell phones are a great contact tool. Most vendors ask for one. It's how they contact you to reconfirm. A cell phone contact is also helpful for us if there are any sudden issues pertaining to your activities. It enables us to contact you and keep you informed. So it's a really good idea to include one with your reservation request. If you haven't done so, please e-mail us with it. Please keep your cell phone on and charged.
6. Your arrival dates are critical. You need to be accurate as that is how we determine when to process your vouchers. If you review this reservation request and they are incorrect, please e-mail us with the correct arrival and departure dates.
7. Please reply to us when you receive your vouchers. This is the only way we know you have what you need.
8. Sign the tickets.
How do I receive my tickets?
Normal Ticket / Voucher Delivery:
All tickets / vouchers are electronic. Our processing policies under normal conditions are to process your vouchers 10 days before your arrival and e-mail them to you. We will call you when we process them to alert you that they have arrived in your in box. You need to print them, sign them and bring them to Maui. Please note that every vendor requires a signed ticket from you. If you haven't received them for some reason, call us immediately! We will resend them.
Short Notice Ticket / Voucher Delivery:
All tickets / vouchers are still electronic. If your reservation request was made within the normal 10 days before arrival processing timeframe and you haven't departed for Maui yet, we will process your tickets as soon as we confirm your activities. You will still receive an e-mail confirmation, driving directions and a phone call alerting you to the fact that we have processed your vouchers. If you haven't received them for some reason, call us immediately! We will resend them.
On Island Ticket / Voucher Delivery:
All tickets / vouchers are still electronic. We do realize that you may have brought a lap top with you, but probably not a printer. You will still receive an e-mail confirmation, driving directions and a phone call alerting you to the fact that we have processed your vouchers. (cell phone contact number required) We will also fax a copy of the ticket and driving directions to your resort so you will have a voucher. You should know that some of the condos are difficult in faxing a ticket to for you for pick up as they keep irregular office hours. In this case you may want to opt for using an Internet Cafe to access your e-mail to retrieve your vouchers. If you haven't received them for some reason, call us immediately! We will resend them. Please note that there are other means available if this delivery method doesn't work for you. We will detail all options regarding this with you when we speak with you.
Gift Certificates: How do they work?
Because gift certificates usually entail the recipient applying the credit once they arrive to Maui, in most cases the activity is already sold out. This effectively renders the intentions of the certificate useless. Since all of our tickets are electronic and processed before the scheduled arrival of our guests, your gift certificate would basically be the actual voucher for the activity. This way your gift is used where it counts most, for the activity they want to enjoy. In order to do this you need to find out what they want to do and schedule the event in their name. After we process the voucher and send it to you, then you can include it in the gift card you got for them. They would be good to go with this method and everyone is happy.
Maui & Timeshare!
The Maui Fun Company Inc. is proud of the fact that we offer our guests discounted tickets for Maui activities and No Timeshare is required! We will never promote timeshare today, tomorrow, ever!
As a consumer you should be aware of the fact that there are many web sites promoting timeshare on Maui. However, there is no timeshare on Maui that you can buy that is deeded property on Island. Every timeshare club on Maui is completely sold out. Timeshare promoters will lure you with what appears to be deeply discounted tickets in order to entice you into attending a timeshare presentation. Simply put it's not worth your time.
You can save money by scheduling your Maui activities with the Maui Fun Company / Activity Savers Maui without attending a timeshare presentation.
It is hardly worth the 5 hours of time spent in one of these grueling high pressure sales pitches, for a few dollars more.
Your time is limited while on Maui and there are so many things to do. Your Maui Vacation should be spent enjoying Maui instead of in a high pressure sales presentation. If owning timeshare on Maui is something that works for you, avoid the high pressure sales pitches and check out the resale market. Plenty of inventory to choose from and it is all Maui property. Not some motel 6 in Kansas. And much less expensive!
Cancellation Policy:
1. There is no penalty for canceling any activity before we process your tickets. You have up to the 11th day before your arrival to cancel any event without penalty.
2. For all vouchers processed on the 10th day before your arrival date and up to 48 hours prior to the check in time for the activity there is an 85% refund value. This is as stated on final page in the web site after you submit your activity request the verification activity request e-mail that you received after you submitted your request, your e-mail confirmation delivered to you once we confirm your activities and in your actual vouchers. The penalty for canceling after we process your voucher up to 48 hours prior to the check in for the activity is 15%. There is no exception to this policy.
3. Within 48 hours of the check in to the activity all activities are non-refundable. There is no exception to this policy. Some vendors have a greater period of up to 72 hours for canceling. If this is the case, we will state the cancellation policy per the vendors request in your e-mail confirmation and in the notes of the actual voucher.
4. All one day tours that involve airline travel are non-refundable once they are scheduled. No changes of any kind are allowed to the scheduled event.
5. If any activity is canceled by the vendor for any reason we will refund the entire value of the ticket 100%. This includes any issue with weather or any other factors out of your control such as mechanical failure aboard any charter boat, van tour or any other activity that is powered by mechanical means. This doesn't include delays.
6. Traffic accidents: From time to time there are traffic accidents leading into West Maui (Lahaina) on the Honoapiilani Highway (30) that prevent you from reaching the activity. This is out of your control as the road is probably closed. We will either try to reschedule the event if at all possible or credit you.
7. You are liable to the terms and conditions of the credit card you used for processing your vouchers regardless if you attended the activity or not. You are still liable for payment.
8. Refunds: All refunds are handled timely. Usually the day of, but can take up to a couple of days for us to process. Once we process the refund, the credit back into your account is in the hands of the credit card issuer. We have no control over how long it takes them to process the refund. We will e-mail you a refund notice that will include a copy of your credit card receipt.
Non-Refundable Cases:
The Maui Fun Company / Activity Savers Maui non-refundable cancellation policy is stated below. Any of the reasons listed are not subject for a refund of any kind for any reason. There is no exception to this list.
1. All activities with in the 48 hour prior to check in. No exception. The Maui Fun Company Inc. / Activity Savers Maui is the point of origin for the reservation. Our cancellation policies supersede the vendors in all cases.
2. You no showed the activity for any reason. This includes but not limited to the following.
A. You arrived late for any reason including traffic delays of any kind that are in your control. This pertains to not allowing enough time for the drive and includes leaving late. You went to the wrong harbor or had problems finding a parking space. It's your responsibility to arrive on time for the check in for every event.
B. You didn't bring the driving directions with you and got lost.
C. You got lost anyway and didn't call us to assist you. You left late and did call us and after we corrected the issue you arrived late. Please note that our driving directions are exact.
D. You underestimated the driving time and arrived late. Our driving directions include an exaggerated drive time to ensure you arrive on time. There is also a cause at the bottom of every set of driving directions that states "Allow for traffic delays. Leave early".
E. You over slept and missed the event.
F. You deleted our e-mail confirmation and didn't know you were confirmed on the event. This is treated as a no show. After you schedule an event it's your responsibility to follow up if you haven't received any confirmations for us within 24 hours of placing your request.
G. You arrived late and missed the boat or scheduled activity departure time. This includes every tour Land, Sea, Air or Neighbor Islands section of our web site. This is considered a no show. No refund.
3. Expectations. Life isn't perfect and occasionally each vendor experiences a challenging day where someone isn't happy or expectations are set too high by the guest. In this case we are at the mercy of the vendor. Do not expect the Maui Fun Company / Activity Savers Maui to credit your credit card for the activity because you weren't all that thrilled with the experience. We have no control over the vendor's operation policies. We cannot refund any ticket without express authorization from the vendor. In most cases don't expect a refund. However some cases do merit more attention than others. In this case will we present your case to the vendor and see what happens. If the outcome is favorable we will credit the voucher what ever the vendor allows us to refund.
4. The vendor refused your participation in the activity for any reason regarding the requirements of the activity. Any requirements required by the vendor are listed in the activity brief for the event. This also includes the guest assuming that any measures taken to by-pass the requirements will allow them to participate. This includes recent injuries, older nagging injuries that create a physical health risk in any capacity, intoxication, pregnancy, broken bones, surgeries, weight requirements, heart conditions, bad backs or any other medical condition that not acceptable to the vendor. Use common sense and call us before assuming your course of action is correct. There is a good chance its not.
The following events have requirements listed in the web site.
A. Zipline Tours: Requirements include weight range (80-260) for Skyline Eco-Adventures and (75-275) for Piiholo Ranch Zipline, age 10 years old and up for zipline, 6 years old and for the hike, no expecting mothers, no surgeries or broken bones within 1 year of the activity. Recent injuries that affect any part of the human body are not acceptable. This includes, feet, legs, knees, hips, hands, arms, neck, back, ribs or any other part of the human body. If an injury of any type occurs before your vacation to Maui, call us so we can cancel the activity. Showing up to the activity with a recent injury without disclosing the injury to us is non-refundable. Old nagging injuries that affect your ability to participate in the Zipline Tour should be brought to our attention. This includes older injuries to the feet, legs, knees, hips, hands, arms, neck, back, ribs or any other part of the human body. If you are refused participation because you didn't disclose any older nagging injuries, there is no refund on the activity. If you have a fear of heights and suddenly remember that when you check in for Zipline Tour or out on the course, there is no refund. People with a fear of heights should not schedule this event.
B. Bike Tours. Requirements are must be at least 12 years old and 4'11 in height. No expecting mothers or people who had broken bones or surgery within one year of the tour date. Failure to disclose any injury recent or otherwise is non-refundable. Call us before you leave on your vacation. You should be able to safely steer a bike down steep hills and through sharp curves. If you haven't ridden a bike in 20 years you should reconsider this event. This is not the place to get reacquainted with riding a bicycle. This activity is not for everyone. It can be quite intimidating riding a bike down Haleakala. This event is not for the casual bike rider who is looking for a thrill. This can be a dangerous downhill bike ride which could result in serious injury or death. For you own safety, know your limitations.
C. Scuba Diving: All certified scuba dives require a dive card. If you forget to bring your dive on your vacation there is no refund. This also includes the guest failing the medical questionnaire that is required by the dive companies for you to fill out before diving. You fail the questionnaire we aren't going to refund the activity. The questionnaire is listed on the scuba diving page. The questionnaire is given to all divers, whether intro divers or certified diver and mandatory. You fail it, don't expect a refund.
D. Parasailing: The minimum weight for a single is 125 pounds. For tandem (2 going together) the maximum weight is 350 pounds. If you failed to request a flying style and are unhappy with what you're doing the fault is yours as the flying style choices are listed on the reservation page for the event. The parasailing company requires this selection at the time of the booking. If you decide not to parasail once you have boarded the boat, we will not downgrade the ticket to an observer. The parasailing company could have sold your seat to a Parasailer and will not allow us to downgrade the price of the ticket. If you have a fear of heights, you should not book this event. Do not expect a refund because you suddenly realized you have a fear of heights.
E. Rafting: Any and all rafting adventures. Requirements are no expecting mothers, no children under 5 and no back or neck problems. This includes, feet, legs, knees, hips, hands, arms, neck, back, ribs or any other part of the human body. If an injury of any type occurs before your vacation to Maui, call us so we can cancel the activity. Showing up to the activity with a recent injury without disclosing the injury to us is non-refundable. This includes every rafting charter on our web site. Motion sickness is not grounds for a refund.
G. Helicopters: This includes any helicopter company listed in our web site. The weight requirement is 250lb per guest. If you exceed 250lb and were not honest regarding your actual weight, don't expect a refund. Helicopters also have total load weight limit. This means that everyone in your group combined together can not exceed the total weight limit for the helicopter. If all members of the party weigh over 200lb this could create a weight issue for the helicopter. If some members of your party were not honest about their actual weight and the helicopter company refuses your participation, don't expect a refund. Your weight as stated to us will be included in the notes of the voucher. The helicopter company will weight each guest and compare the weight to the weight we listed in the voucher. If you were not honest, you are liable for any determination by the helicopter company. We will not refund the ticket.
H. Horseback Riding: All stables listed in our web site have age and weight restrictions. The restrictions are as follows per stable.
1. Mendes Ranch: Age is 7 years old and up. Weight is 260 pounds. No expecting mothers or people with bad backs. If you are refused participation because of a weight issue, age issue or injury issue, we will not refund your ticket.
2. Ironwood Ranch: Age is 8 years old and up. Weight is 210 pounds. Minimum height is 4'. No expecting mothers or people with bad backs. If you are refused participation because of a weight issue, age issue or injury issue, we will not refund your ticket.
3. Pony Express: Age is 12 years old and up. Weight 210 pounds. No expecting mothers or people with bad backs. If you are refused participation because of a weight issue, age issue or injury issue, we will not refund your ticket. For the Haleakala Crater Ride no people over 65 are allowed on the ride due to the thinness of the air at 10,000 feet.
4. Piiholo Stables: Age is 12 years old and up. Weight 210 pounds. No expecting mothers or people with bad backs. If you are refused participation because of a weight issue, age issue or injury issue, we will not refund your ticket. Height in comparison to weight is an important factor with this stable. You must be in fair shape and with your weight portioned to your height. Piiholo Stables does not allow overweight or people who suffer from obesity to ride their horses. The 3 hour Advance Ride requires the rider to be an intermediate level or higher to participate in the event. 200 rides or more is considered intermediate by Piiholo Stable. If the rider doesn't pass the wranglers test of ability, we will not refund the ticket.
L. Resort Pick-Ups: All bike companies, coach tours and hiking adventures in our web site provide resort pick up. If you haven't provided us with the correct resort, it becomes impossible for them to pick you up. In that case there is no refund. Getting the actual name of your resort is paramount in being picked up by the vendor. If you are not exact and miss the shuttle service, there is no refund. When we e-mail you your confirmation the name of the resort you are staying as you provided it to us will be listed in the brief for the event. If you don't address the error by calling or e-mailing us with the correct resort, don't expect a refund. All vendors in our web site who provide resort pick up will call to reconfirm the day before. They do this to touch bases with the guest to reconfirm the pick up time and location. There may have been some changes in your reservation that require notification. If you provided us with a cell phone contact, they will call you. If your cell phone is turned off, or the battery is dead and you miss the call, don't expect a refund. You may be on vacation, but the vendor and the Maui Fun Company Inc / Activity Savers Maui are not.
M. Maui Kayaks: The age requirement is 8 years old and up.
5. One Day Tours: All one day tours that require an airline carrier such as Hawaiian, Go-Mokulele or Island Air are non-refundable once the reservation is placed. These events are considered standard air travel with the policies that are normally included in airfare purchase. The following policies apply and are non-refundable under any circumstances.
A. You forgot to bring a valid photo ID. All airline travel requires a valid photo ID. No refund.
B. You forgot the ticket and the vendor refused your entry or participation. All one day tours require a voucher or ticket to be presented upon checking in at the airport. If you are refused boarding because you forgot your voucher or ticket, there is no refund.
C. All airline carriers require your name on the reservation exactly as it appears on your valid photo ID. If you do not provide the correct spelling along with the complete name of yourself and any guests under your charge including date of birth and gender and you are refused boarding, there is no refund. If the vendor and or the airline carrier require you to pay a penalty to correct the issue the Maui Fun Company Inc. / Activity Savers Maui will not be held financially liable to re-in burst you. We have provided a field on the reservation page that is specifily designed to put this required information in. We have also put a set of instruction and an example to in put the required data. You fail to fill in the field correctly is not grounds for a refund. You should address booking this event in the same manner as you did your flight to Hawaii. There is no difference because you are on vacation.
D. There are no rescheduling the one day tour allowed after the event is scheduled. This is stated in the brief for the event just below the price listing for the activity. Make sure that your dates are correct.
E. Misspelling your name or not including your full name as it appears on your valid photo ID is not grounds for a refund. Any financial penalties for misspelling your name leveled by the airline carrier and the vendor are your responsibility.
F. You missed the scheduled pick up time for any reason. This includes over sleeping, arriving to the meet location late or getting lost to the meet location. See clause L in section 4 as the same rules apply.
6. Submarines: The minimum height for Atlantis Submarines is 36". You must be able to navigate a steep ladder when entering the Submarine. All children regardless of age must be 36" tall and be able to navigate the steep ladder by themselves. Failing to do so and being refused participation is no grounds for a refund.
7. Expeditions: This vendor is governed by Home Land Security as they are a transportation company. You must have a valid photo ID for any of the Expedition activities listed in our web site. This is required. We have provided a data field that requires you to enter every person going on Expeditions first and last name. This includes all children no matter how young. You fail to enter the required information and are refused boarding, no refund.
6) Charter Boats: Motion sickness is not grounds for a refund. This includes all snorkel charter, fishing charters, sunset cruises, whale watching charters, parasailing boats, rafting charters and submarines listed in our web site.
We apologize for the length and degree of this privacy policy regarding our terms and conditions. Over the years we have found it necessary to include the most challenging issues we have faced from the consumer. Unfortunately people seem to think they are immune to their own assumptions, irresponsible actions including their liabilities. This has led us to reconsider and expand our cancellation policies that the average vacation traveler understands.
