How the Adventure Works:
All zipline tours meet at the Kapalua Adventure Center in Kapalua in West Maui. Once you arrive, the check in process begins with signing the waiver of liability and recording your weight. Once everyone has arrived, your guide will walk you down to the assembly area where you will be outfitted in the harness and helmet. The guide will take a group photo, so smile and give the shaka...The photo, along with the rest of the pictures your guide takes throughout the activity can be purchased at the end of the adventure.
The next step in the journey is the shuttle ride up to the Zipline course. The ride treks up the mountain in 4-wheel drive for about 15 minutes until you reach the viewing platform for the lower Mountain Loop. This is where the course splits into separate adventures.

Upper Mountain Loop:
5-Line Course & Giant Swing:
As you are approaching the viewing platform for the Lower Mountain Loop a 360 foot suspension bridge appear as you round the bend in the road. For the 5-line course the shuttle will stop here. The first part of the journey begins by crossing the suspension bridge. Once across, you will board another smaller 4-wheel drive vehicle that will take you to the trail head for the first zipline. At the trail head is where you will be given the assembly that attaches to the zipline and your harness will be adjusted to fit snugly. The guides will explain the course and share with you some of the finer points of ziplining in Maui.
The 5-line course is about 4 hours from start to finish.
The 5-line and Giant Swing is about 4.5 hours from start to finish.
The Adventure Begins:
1st line: 985 Feet
The trail to the first zipline winds uphill through dense forest for a little over a 100 yards to a platform on a canyon ridge. The view is a sweeping vista from the rainforest to the ocean. The height above the canyon floor is about 135 feet. Average speed about 35 mph.
2nd Line: 525 feet
After everyone is across the first line, the trail to the second line is about 100 yards partly uphill, then descending a little to the platform. This is the shortest zipline on the course.
The views of the coastline are panoramic. The views of the rainforest in the West Maui Mountains are spectacular. The height above the canyon floor is about 190 feet. Average speed about 30 mph.
3rd Line: 2060 feet
The Beast:
It's a short walk uphill through the forest to the third zipline. Once you arrive to the small clearing there is a deck to rest on under the canopy of the forest. The third zipline on the 5 - line course is also referred to as "The Beast". The take-off platform is from a tower. You have to walk up a suspended bridge to the top of the tower.
This line begins by going through a tree tunnel; then following the length of the canyon. The landing platform is so far away that you can barely see it. This line is so cool! The surroundings, the line length and just the overall feeling of the natural beauty of the area make this one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had. The height above the canyon floor is about 235 feet.
Average speed about 45 mph.
4th Line: 835 feet
The 4th line is about a 50 foot walk from the landing platform of the third zipline. This line crosses a canyon and lands on a platform at the edge of a meadow. The views of the ocean are amazing. The West Maui Mountains angle back and you can look beyond the ridge deep inside the valley. The height above the canyon floor is about 145 feet. Average speed about 30.
5th - Line: 1615 feet
The last line on the 5-line course begins from a tower. Kind of like a western fort lookout tower. You walk inside the tower to the stairs leading to the top. After the first floor, the tower opens up to allow views of the ocean from 3 sides. The landing platform is at the Mountain Outpost.
This tower is also the location for the "Challenge Zip". At the top of the tower on both sides there are a variety of elements that to say the least look challenging. From tight rope walking, crossing a wooden plank bridge, leaping to looped ropes and my favorite, swinging across the span "Tarzan Style" from hanging ropes. Height off the ground is about 50 feet.
Average speed is about 40 mph.
Giant Swing:
The Giant Swing is just that, a giant swing. Located on the edge of the canyon the guides harness you up; pull you as high and back as the rope allows. You release the rope and swing out over the canyon. The views of the West Maui Mountains, the ocean and Molokai are staggering. Oh, and of course the canyon below. This is a lot of fun and a wonderful way to wind up the tour.
Lunch is served under the covered area of the Mountain Outpost. The lunch provided is a roasted chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato and avocado. The meal is rounded out with fresh tortilla chips, salsa and brownies. Water is also provided.
Lower Mountain Loop:
4 - Line Course:
The adventure begins at the Mountain Outpost. The viewing platform offers some of the most sweeping views of Molokai, the coastline and the channel between the islands. For the most part, the 4 - line course is over valleys and across open space that was once sugar cane fields that have become green meadows in the shadow of the mountains. The hikes between ziplines are rated as easy. This course is well suited for families with children 10 - 13 and for those who are seeking adventure, but prefer something a little less strenuous.
The vistas from 1400 feet above sea level will be something that you will capture in photos to remember for years to come.
1st Line: 500 feet
The first line on the course is the shortest. This is a nice starter line with sweeping mountain views. Once everyone is across, the walk to the second line is about 50 yards through the meadow. The height above the ground is the highest when crossing over the valley at 50 feet.
Average speed is 30 mph
2nd Line: 1615 feet:
The straight forward views of the ocean are simply amazing. This line is all about the ocean views as you zip down onto a platform at the Mountain Outpost. Once everyone is across it's a short walk to the next zipline. Height above ground is about 50 feet.
Average speed is about 40 mph.
3rd Line: 830 feet
The third line crosses a valley with a stream below to a platform in a meadow. The ocean views are great all the way across. Nice zip downhill zip with heights above the valley floor is about 125 feet.
Average speed about 40 mph.
4th - Line 1840 feet
The last line on the 4 - line course is the longest. This lines spans back across the valley and over a low meadow before rising up to the landing platform at the edge of a wooded area. It's a nice walk of about 150 yards back to the Mountain Outpost. Height above the valley floor is about 85 feet.
Average speed is 30 mph.
